First Look: Korilla BBQ Goes Brick-and-Mortar in the East Village
By: Kelly Dobkin
Korean/Mexican burrito truck Korilla BBQ has laid down permanent roots in the East Village
at 23 Third Avenue at the corner of St. Mark’s, and did so in style, adorning the front facade
of the building above it in its signature tiger stripes. Opening today, the Korean BBQ-inspired eatery
will offer their signature ‘cue in the same three ways – in a ssam/burrito, a Chosun rice bowl or in salad form,
a la Chipotle. Queens-born Edward Song who spent time in top NYC kitchens after culinary school
launched the Korilla BBQ truck in 2010 and later competed on Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race.
Song has also announced plans for additional brick-and-mortar locations on the Upper East Side,
Financial District, and Brooklyn coming soon. Take a look around the new space below.
