LIE SANGBONG F/W ’15 Collection, “Oriental Ink,” strutted down the New York Fashion Week runway on Feb. 18 at the Salon at Lincoln Center, painting the scene with modern elegance. Giving new dimensions to bold lines and vibrant colors with his sophisticated constructions, Mr. Lie brought oriental ink paintings of peonies to life in his awe-inspiring collection.
The F/W Collection is made complete by the marriage of natural, earth-tone colors and the contrasting graphic colors, the balance of minimal, pristine silhouettes and the dramatic shapes and accents. A remarkable mix and match of fabrics also made the collection impeccable, each garment subtly embracing intricate texture.
“I think women are looking toward minimalism and simplicity, but with playful, veiled contrasts to add uniqueness and individuality,” said Mr. Lie.
The piece shown above demonstrates Mr. Lie’s interpretation of modern elegance: A classic long camel wool coat made edgy with a subtle touch of black leather and buttons that dramatizes the waist line, topped with a wide collar in contrasting deep burgundy.
The runway was dressed up with delicate looks from Mr. Lie’s eclectic collection, in collaboration with a captivating artwork by yet another one of Korea’s gems based in New York City, Sun K. Kwak. The mystifying drawing installation extending from the venue walls and down the entire runway rhythmically transformed the space and introduced the audience into a whole new world of LIE SANGBONG.
The show also entertained iconic stars of the time, including Rachel Brosnahan, Kate Nash, and Fe Fendi, who made appearance and occupied the most coveted front-row seats at the show. Each stopped for a pose, flaunting a glamorous fashion-week-look complete with LIE SANGBONG masterpieces.
The LIE SANGBONG F/W Collection will be available in August 2015 at retailers worldwide, including the brand’s recently opened US boutique in New York’s Meatpacking District (30 Gansevoort St in New York City).
