On Saturday, August 16, 2014, Pope Francis delivered a beatification Mass in Gwanghwamun Plaza in Seoul. The outdoor Mass was attended by around 800,000 people, as Koreans welcomed the first papal visit to the country in 25 years. The Pope’s messages were powerful and hopeful, perhaps at least partially because he had a great breakfast that day!
miss KOREA BBQ‘s food consultant Chef Sun Kyu Lee had the honor of catering breakfast for Pope Francis during his recent visit to Korea. Chef Lee prepared Ssukseolgi (쑥설기), a steamed rice cake made of mugwort (쑥), jujube dates (대추), chestnuts (밤), and beans (콩), to be served before the Pope’s Mass in Gwanghwamun.
