“A Korean restaurant is throwing two charity dinners to raise money for Hurricane Sandy victims struggling to put food on the table. Miss Korea BBQ of Manhattan will give the proceeds from Tuesday and Wednesday night’s dinners to the New York Food Bank. Celebrity chef Debbie Lee is designing the seven-course meal, inspired by dishes once eaten by Korean royalty.
Lee said she’s seen a great need for help and wanted to do something about it.
“It really changed me a lot, and it actually had me find a huge respect for the East Coast, the way everyone came together, the community alliance, and I just didn’t feel right without cooking and doing something for a cause,” she said.
“Some people, they lost their homes, and some people, they lost their families, so this time we have fundraising, and proceeds, everything, 100 percent, we wanted to help them,” said Sophia Lee, the owner of miss Korea BBQ.
